-School systems discriminating against students--making kids get up at 5AM, sit on bus for 90 minutes or more. They are tired, have not had breakfast, and cannot function as students. -Some instances of willingness to pick up children with public transportation, but it gets them there late, and kids are punished when they do get there. -Parents are afraid to make this a legal issue, because they are worried about reprisals against their children -Mandated and not-mandated transportation agencies receiving Federal funding--this lack of coordination is a serious hindrance -Lack of public transportation generally -Private sector charges excessive amounts--(eg. charging by "trip" rather than distance/time) -Misinformation/lack of education about the issues/opportunities/money being spent -Unequal distribution of federal funding in rural vs. urban areas--but transportation has no boundaries! The jobs are everywhere. -Non-profits behaving territorially because of the funding system, even though they are working toward one major goal -No clear copy of the 2012 Federal Register online -Non-profits (i.e., Goodwill) can't help clients with transportation issues as a result of the current system -Excessive paperwork involved with running programs on the local level (ie. coordination of transportation agencies/initiatives)
