In his State of the Union address, the President laid out his vision for America to win the future. The President made it clear that the most important contest we face today is not between Democrats and Republicans, but rather America’s contest with competitors across the globe for the jobs and industries of our time. To win that contest and secure prosperity for Hispanics and all Americans, we have to out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build the rest of the world. The Hispanic community plays an integral part of that plan to win the future. As such we have unveiled whitehouse.gov/hispanic and Winning the Future: The President’s Agenda and the Hispanic Community. GOALS: The focus of the Action Summit is to accomplish three key goals: 1. Have community leaders interact with key decision and policy makers in the Obama Administration from a diverse array of policy areas; 2. Share concerns, constructive criticism, feedback and success stories with the Administration; 3. Find ways to collaborate with the Administration and other leaders from across the country in addressing the needs of the Hispanic community. Topics of Discussion: Education, Small Business, Immigration, Housing, Health Care, and Other Matters of Importance. Joined leaders from your community for interactive conversations with senior Administration officials from a wide range of agencies and White House offices to more fully understand policy accomplishments to date by the Administration and what we hope to achieve together moving forward in the remainder of our first term. You will be joined by Administration appointees in an Open Space Process, a day-long “coffee break” approach where those participating will create the agenda and work together. We will propose and co-lead all the conversations we want to have with participants who are interested in the same issues for as long as they desire--no lectures, no conference tracks, no speakers, no time limits, no predetermined set of issues, no agenda, only those issues that matter most to you and to winning the future.
